Doug Parker:

Important Update: Issues with the Young Americans for Liberty at IU have been resolved in a satisfactory and timely manner.  We appreciate their energy and would encourage you to consider their support for HR 1207.  A foolow up will be sent to Rep. Hill clarifying to issue.

Doug Parker:

Fraudulent Video Produced at Bloomington Tea Party

There is a video on You Tube produced by a group named the Young Americans for Liberty at IU.   The video claims that the Bloomington Tea party was formed to support a bill introduced by Ron Paul in the House of Representatives.  The juvies behind the video at no time were affiliated with the Bloomington Tea Party, whose sole purpose was to protest the unconscionable economic policies being enacted by Congress.

We have written the following letter to Baron Hill regarding the YAfL IU:

April 16, 2009

Dear Representative Hill,

On April 15, 2009, one thousand of your constituents gathered outside your Bloomington office to express their outrage over your support for the unconscionable government spending.

Unfortunately, a group called the Young Americans for Liberty at IU produced a video at this event which claims to be affiliated with our protest of your unacceptable behavior in office.  This organization has had no contact with our organization at any time, and any claim to have had a role in the protest is totally fraudulent.  None of the one thousand protestors could possibly have been drawn to our event by this group, and their video could only represent the views of those who produced it.

We have no position on HB 1207, which this group supports.  We haven't studied this bill, for all we know it deserves support.  You should certainly not feel concerned that the people who attended the Bloomington Tea Party had any concern for this bill.

Best Regards,

Douglas K. Parker

To the YAfL at IU, out in the adult world, there guidelines for behavior that govern the interaction between people.  One of these is not to lie or steal the identity of others.  You have violated this norm, and that is why we have responded as we have.  You have alienated one thousand potential supporters by claiming to their support which you have not earned by convincing argument.

The journalism students who interviewed us showed more maturity and professionalism than you have demonstrated.  The line of their questioning showed an obvious point of view at odds with that of the attendants of the protest.  Their reaction to the answers showed an open mind not typically (perhaps stereotypically) associated with the products of journalism. The article in the IDS, produced by one of these students was a balanced output of which he can be proud.  You have a lie, with which you can claim nothing.

Leave the lieing to Rahm Emmanuel, Barack Obama, and Baron Hill, and the rest of the Democrats.  If you want to be Mature (but of low age) Americans for Liberty, learn how to behave.  Stand with us in demanding that they speak the truth. Educate us about HB 1207 and ask for our support.  Make convincing arguments and the thousand people whom you have offended might choose to support your cause.
